Why Vocations?

Everyone has one or more skill, talent, or gift. Some we are born with, some we develop through education, training, or good old fashioned trial and error. Sadly, we seldom use these abilities to help each other. For good reason, we most often use these abilities to make a living. BUT, our abilities are more than a source of income, they are frequently our purpose, identity, passion. Most of all, if used freely for the good of those around, we build relationships, produce lasting, life giving resources, and build strong, healthy communities.

Unfortunately, many vocations have the added barrier of needing a building, tools, or equipment to be used. Ark Vocational Services vision is to create a network of vocational specific resources. If you need a dry, well lit building, then we’ll provide the resource with the appropriate administration to maintain and share the resource as widely as possible.

Each vocational resource will seek participation prioritized to facilitate three specific sub-goals:

  1. Collaborate with local churches near the resource to promote and facilitate church member sharing of skills, talents, or gifts. We want the members of the church body to serve each other! Get to know each other on a deeper level. Build relationships. Demonstrate love by providing for each others needs.

  2. Mentoring Zones. The are many excellent mentoring organization already working hard coach, train, and love the young people our our communities. Often though, mentors are hard to find. Even when mentors step up to help, they don’t have the forum to engage in productive activities. Sports tend to be one of the few areas where we can actively engage. If the mentor or mentee or not athletically inclined, mentoring zones gives them the opportunity to engage in a vocational interest. A sort of “Park” for other interests.

  3. Training and supporting the community around the vocational resource. We want everyone that has association with any Ark Vocational Service to actively use their skills and abilities to train others or serve others in the community.
